The BMC, the Save Rani Bagh Botanical Garden Foundation and NAGAR were happy to launch the Mumbai Botanical Garden and Zoo Mobile App at the Press Club, Mumbai, on December 16, 2024.
The App was jointly launched by the three guests of honour, Mr. D.M. Sukthankar, formerly Chief Secretary, Maharashtra and Chairman MHCC; Dr. Pheroza Godrej, art historian and President Emeritus FoT and Dr. Sanjay Kumar Tripathi, Director Zoo, V.J.B. Botanical Udyan and Zoo.
The function was well-attended by the print and electronic media. Also present were friends and sympathisers of NAGAR and the Save Rani Bagh Botanical Garden Foundation (hereinafter, the Foundation). NAGAR trustees, Nayana Kathpalia and Meher Rafaat and Foundation trustees, Hutokshi Rustomfram, Shubhada Nikharge. Dr. Sheila Tanna, Hutoxi Arethna and Katie Bagli and the App project coordinator, Sanjana Patil attended the event.
Ms. Hutokshi Rustomfram, Foundation Trustee, anchored the launch function welcomed all present, spoke briefly about the three organisations hosting the app, the driving purpose behind the unique navigational, pathfinder app and introduced the three guests of honour invited to launch the App. On behalf of NAGAR and the Foundation she also thanked the Pirojsha Godrej Foundation and the Cyrus and Manek Guzder Foundation whose generous financial support made it possible to produce the app.
Thereafter, the three guests of honour spoke briefly about their association with Rani Bagh and expressed happiness and appreciation for the quality and content of the App. The app was symbolically launched by the three guests of honour to much applause, followed by the screening of a 3-minute app demo video. Two QR codes (for Apple store and Play store) were then unveiled for download.
An exhaustive Q and A session followed where Foundation trustees Hutokshi Rustomfram and Shubhada Nikharge and project coordinator, Sanjana Patil addressed queries and cleared doubts about the App usage and its vast scope. It was stressed that the app carries no advertisements, is available for free download and can be downloaded and seen all over the country and abroad.
All major English and Marathi newspapers covered the event the following day. The function ended with the anchor thanking members of the media and other friends who attended the event to express their support and solidarity.
